Equipment

  • 1 wooden spoon
  • 1 nonstick deep skillet

Ingredients

  • ¼ tsp unsalted butter
  • ½ pkg canadian bacon 4 pieces; sliced into thin strips
  • ½ small onion diced
  • 1 small head Organic cabbage washed and chopped
  • tsp coarse ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp Oregano
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Dash Original seasoning
  • tsp sea salt

Instructions

  • After cutting off the root of the cabbage, remove the first 2 - 3 layers of the cabbage before cutting it into ¼s. Then remove the layer by layer, and add individual leaves to a bowl of salt water to soak for up to 15 minutes, to rid them of any pesticides and debris. Then pat dry with a few pieces of paper towel and set aside.
  • In your deep skillet, melt the butter on medium-high heat. Once melted, add the Canadian bacon and stir to cook for about 8 - 10 minutes. There will be no grease, that's why the butter was added (and flavor, of course).
  • Add the onions, stir, and cook for 3 minutes, until soft and translucent.
  • Now's the time to add the chopped cabbage, pepper, oregano, paprika, and Dash Original seasoning, and stir. Continue stirring until cabbage is tender yet still has bite, and all ingredients are combined well; about 10 minutes.
  • Add salt, reduce the heat to medium-low, and cook the cabbage for 3 - 4 minutes with the lid on, until your preferred tenderness is reached.
  • Serve hot and enjoy!
