Equipment

  • 1 Large pot
  • 1 wooden spoon
  • 1 Large nonstick skillet
  • 1 Pasta spoon
  • 1 Liquid Measuring Cup
  • Measuring cup and spoons

Ingredients

  • 1 lb spaghetti pasta (cooked per package instructions)
  • 1 cup pasta water reserved before draining pasta
  • 1 Tbsp canola oil or any neutral oil
  • 1 lb ground turkey or any ground meat you choose
  • ½ small red onion finely diced
  • ¼ 6 oz pack pepperoni cut into ¼s
  • 24 oz meat sauce
  • ½ Tbsp Dash Garlic and Herb seasoning
  • ½ tsp coarse ground black pepper
  • tsp sea salt
  • ¼ tsp organic turmeric
  • ½ tsp Oregano
  • ½ tsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 tsp brown sugar (light or dark)

Optional

  • Shredded Cheese
  • grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Cook your pasta per its package directions in the large pot. Scoop and reserve some pasta water, set aside. Drain the pasta, then rinse it under cold water, and set it aside. You can do this while you're getting your sauce mixture ready!
  • In your large nonstick pan, add canola oil on medium-high heat for about a minute. Add your thawed ground turkey and immediately break the meat up into crumbles, using a spatula. Cook for about 10 minutes
  • Once the meat turns from pink to brown, add your onions, pepperoni, and seasoning, and continue stirring everything well. Cook for another 5 minutes to let the flavors meld. Oh yeah...enjoy that smell! 😋
  • Now it's time to build the sauce, so add your meat sauce to the meat mixture. Then, take your reserved pasta water and add it to the jar, placing the lid back on pretty tight to shake and get all the sauce out. Remove the lid, pour the water sauce mixture into the meat mixture, stir, place the lid on your pan, and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Remove the lid, add your pasta, and using a pasta spoon, vigorously (yet carefully) mix and fold the noodles into the meat sauce mixture to reach your desired results. If adding shredded cheese, now's a great time to allow it to melt!
  • At this point, you can garnish with more pepper, Italian seasoning, or even shredded and/or grated parmesan cheese! You do you, just make sure to serve hot and enjoy!

Storage Tips

Once fully cooled, you have two options. You can either:
  • Refrigerate: For best quality, store the leftovers in an airtight container for 2 -3 days. If you don't plan to eat within that timeframe, freeze the rest to avoid food waste.
  • Freeze: For best quality, store the leftovers in an airtight container for 2 -3 months.

Reheating

  • In a hurry, you can use the microwave. But be sure to stir/mix while heating to ensure even coverage.
  • In a saucepan on the stovetop, you can heat it over low heat with a lid to ensure moisture.
  • In the oven, for about 20 minutes at 350º F, be sure to cover with foil and enjoy the meal all over again.
